Description

Creamy Smothered Chicken and Rice is the ultimate comfort food  juicy seasoned chicken simmered in a rich, creamy garlic sauce and served over fluffy white rice. It’s quick enough for a weeknight dinner but tastes like it came from a cozy Southern kitchen. One pan, loads of flavor!


Ingredients

– 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs

– Salt and black pepper, to taste

– 1 tsp garlic powder

– 1 tsp onion powder

– 1/2 tsp paprika

– 1 tbsp olive oil

– 1 tbsp butter

– 3 garlic cloves, minced

– 3/4 cup chicken broth

– 1/2 cup heavy cream

– 2 oz cream cheese (optional, for extra richness)

– 3 cups cooked white rice

– Fresh parsley, for garnish


Instructions

1. Season the chicken with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.

2. In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and butter. Sear chicken on both sides for 4–5 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside.

3. Add minced garlic to the same pan and sauté for about 30 seconds.

4. Pour in the chicken broth and bring it to a gentle simmer.

5. Stir in heavy cream and cream cheese (if using). Whisk until smooth and creamy. Let simmer for 2–3 minutes to slightly thicken.

6. Return the chicken to the skillet and spoon sauce over the top. Simmer for 5 minutes.

7. Serve over warm cooked rice and garnish with fresh parsley.

Notes

– Want more heat? Add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.

– This dish is also great with mashed potatoes or egg noodles instead of rice.

– Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
