Fresh Caprese Skewers are the ultimate no-cook appetizer! Juicy cherry tomatoes, creamy mozzarella balls, and fragrant basil leaves are threaded onto skewers and drizzled with olive oil and balsamic glaze. It’s a colorful, healthy, and crowd-pleasing dish perfect for summer parties, picnics, or holiday gatherings.
Ingredients
– 1 pint cherry or grape tomatoes
– 8 oz fresh mozzarella balls (bocconcini or ciliegine)
– Fresh basil leaves (small or torn if large)
– 2–3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
– 2–3 tbsp balsamic glaze
– Cracked black pepper, to taste
– Kosher salt, to taste
– Wooden skewers (4–6 inch cocktail skewers or bamboo sticks)
Instructions
1. Rinse the cherry tomatoes and basil leaves. Drain the mozzarella balls and pat them dry.
2. On each skewer, thread one tomato, one basil leaf, and one mozzarella ball. Repeat the pattern until the skewer is filled, leaving a bit of space at the bottom for holding.
3. Place the skewers on a serving platter. Drizzle with olive oil and balsamic glaze.
4. Sprinkle with kosher salt and cracked black pepper to taste.
5. Serve immediately or refrigerate for up to 2 days. For best flavor, drizzle with balsamic just before serving.
Notes
– Use high-quality, fresh mozzarella for the best flavor.
– Swap cherry tomatoes for grape tomatoes if preferred.
– For extra flair, add prosciutto slices or a cube of melon between layers.
– Make these skewers a few hours ahead, but wait to drizzle the balsamic glaze until right before serving to keep the presentation fresh.
