Garlic Shrimp Gratin: Creamy, Cheesy, and Comforting Seafood Bake

  • Author: Melissa
  • Total Time: 22 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Description

Garlic Shrimp Gratin is a rich and creamy seafood bake loaded with juicy shrimp, garlic butter, and melted cheese. It’s easy to make, ready in about 20 minutes, and perfect for both weeknight dinners and special occasions. Serve it bubbling hot with crusty bread or pasta for a satisfying meal.

Ingredients

– 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined

– 3 tablespoons butter

– 4 cloves garlic, minced

– 1 cup heavy cream

– 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

– 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

– 1/4 cup shredded Gruyère or Swiss cheese (optional but recommended)

– Salt and pepper to taste

– 2 tablespoons chopped parsley (for garnish)

– Optional: 1/4 cup breadcrumbs for topping

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

2. In a medium skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute, stirring frequently, until fragrant.

3. Pour in the heavy cream and stir in the Parmesan cheese. Cook for 1-2 minutes until the sauce slightly thickens. Season with salt and pepper.

4. Arrange the raw shrimp in a single layer in an oven-safe baking dish. Pour the garlic cream sauce evenly over the shrimp.

5. Sprinkle mozzarella and Gruyère cheese on top. If using, add a layer of breadcrumbs for a crunchy topping.

6. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the shrimp turn pink and the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

7. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve hot with bread, rice, or pasta.

Notes

Use raw shrimp so they stay juicy and don’t overcook.

Gruyère adds a nutty flavor to the cheese layer, but you can use all mozzarella if you prefer.

Watch your shrimp closely—they cook fast and will become rubbery if overbaked.

For extra garlic flavor, add a pinch of garlic powder before baking.

Skip the breadcrumbs for a gluten-free version.

This dish is best enjoyed fresh but can be reheated gently the next day.
