Description
Festive vanilla cupcakes with red, green, and white buttercream swirls, topped with edible gold glitter and candy stars perfect for holiday celebrations.
Ingredients
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 ½ tsp baking powder
¼ tsp salt
½ cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
2 tsp vanilla extract
½ cup whole milk
For the frosting:
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
3 ½ to 4 cups powdered sugar, sifted
2–3 tbsp heavy cream or milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
Red and green gel food coloring
Edible gold glitter
Gold candy stars
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with 12 cupcake liners.
Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl.
In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy (2-3 mins).
Add eggs one at a time, beating after each. Stir in vanilla.
Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk to the wet mixture.
Divide batter evenly among liners and bake 18–20 minutes.
Cool completely on a wire rack.
For frosting: Beat butter until creamy. Add powdered sugar gradually.
Mix in vanilla and cream until fluffy and smooth.
Divide frosting into 3 bowls. Tint one red, one green, and leave one white.
Spoon into a large piping bag side-by-side for a swirl effect.
Pipe onto cupcakes and decorate with glitter and gold stars.
Notes
Use gel food coloring to avoid thinning the frosting.
You can prepare the cupcakes a day ahead and frost before serving.
Store frosted cupcakes in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
