  • Author: Melissa
  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 6 apples 1x

Description

Glossy, glittery candy apples coated in a deep purple candy shell with a dramatic black drizzle — the perfect spooky treat for Halloween!

Ingredients

Scale

6 Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples

2 cups granulated sugar

1/2 cup light corn syrup

1/2 cup water

1/2 tsp black gel food coloring

1/4 tsp purple gel food coloring

1/4 tsp edible glitter or luster dust (purple or silver)

1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

Black icing gel or melted black candy melts (for drizzle)

Black straws or lollipop sticks

Instructions

Wash and dry apples thoroughly. Remove stems and insert black straws or sticks.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.

In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water. Stir over medium heat until sugar dissolves.

Attach a candy thermometer and heat to 300°F (hard crack stage) without stirring.

Remove from heat and carefully stir in food coloring, vanilla extract, and edible glitter.

Working quickly, dip each apple into the candy, turning to coat evenly.

Let excess drip off and place coated apples on the lined baking sheet.

Once set, drizzle black icing or candy melts over the apples.

Let cool completely before serving.

Notes

Use only food-safe, edible glitter for safety.

Do not refrigerate finished apples or the coating may become sticky.
