Description

Crispy pretzel-crusted chicken served with a creamy mustard-cheddar sauce. A crunchy, cheesy twist on classic chicken that’s perfect for family dinners or game day.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Chicken:

2 lbs chicken tenders or breasts, cut into strips

3 cups pretzels, finely crushed

1 cup flour

2 eggs, beaten

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp paprika

Salt and pepper, to taste

3 tbsp oil

For the Mustard-Cheddar Sauce:

2 tbsp butter

2 tbsp flour

1 ½ cups milk

1 ½ cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

2 tbsp Dijon mustard

½ tsp garlic powder

Pinch of cayenne (optional)

Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

1. Crush pretzels into fine crumbs. Mix with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.

2. Dredge chicken in flour, dip in eggs, and coat in pretzel crumbs.

3. Pan fry 3–4 minutes per side, or bake at 400°F for 18–20 minutes, or air fry 12–14 minutes.

4. Make sauce: Melt butter in saucepan, whisk in flour, then milk. Stir in cheddar, mustard, garlic, cayenne, salt, and pepper until smooth.

5. Serve chicken drizzled with sauce. Garnish with parsley.

Notes

Use gluten-free pretzels for gluten-free option.

Bake or air fry for a lighter version.

Adjust mustard to taste Dijon for tang, yellow for mildness, spicy brown for extra kick.
