Description
Crispy pretzel-crusted chicken served with a creamy mustard-cheddar sauce. A crunchy, cheesy twist on classic chicken that’s perfect for family dinners or game day.
Ingredients
For the Chicken:
2 lbs chicken tenders or breasts, cut into strips
3 cups pretzels, finely crushed
1 cup flour
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp paprika
Salt and pepper, to taste
3 tbsp oil
For the Mustard-Cheddar Sauce:
2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp flour
1 ½ cups milk
1 ½ cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
2 tbsp Dijon mustard
½ tsp garlic powder
Pinch of cayenne (optional)
Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
1. Crush pretzels into fine crumbs. Mix with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
2. Dredge chicken in flour, dip in eggs, and coat in pretzel crumbs.
3. Pan fry 3–4 minutes per side, or bake at 400°F for 18–20 minutes, or air fry 12–14 minutes.
4. Make sauce: Melt butter in saucepan, whisk in flour, then milk. Stir in cheddar, mustard, garlic, cayenne, salt, and pepper until smooth.
5. Serve chicken drizzled with sauce. Garnish with parsley.
Notes
Use gluten-free pretzels for gluten-free option.
Bake or air fry for a lighter version.
Adjust mustard to taste Dijon for tang, yellow for mildness, spicy brown for extra kick.
