Description
Tender beef patties slow-cooked in a rich onion mushroom gravy, perfect for serving over mashed potatoes or noodles classic comfort food made easy.
Ingredients
1 1/2 lbs ground beef
1/3 cup breadcrumbs
1 large egg
2 tbsp ketchup
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced
8 oz mushrooms, sliced
2 cups beef broth
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp ketchup
1 tbsp cornstarch
2 tbsp water
1 tbsp olive oil
Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Instructions
In a bowl, mix beef, egg, breadcrumbs, ketchup, Worcestershire, and seasonings. Form into 4–6 patties.
Heat olive oil in a skillet and sear patties 2–3 minutes per side. Transfer to slow cooker.
Add onions and mushrooms on top of patties.
In a bowl, whisk beef broth, Worcestershire, and ketchup. Pour over everything.
Cover and cook on LOW for 5–6 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours.
In the last 30 minutes, stir in cornstarch slurry (1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water).
Let gravy thicken. Serve over mashed potatoes and garnish with parsley.
Notes
Do not skip the searing step it locks in flavor and texture.
Taste gravy before serving and adjust salt as needed.
