  • Author: Melissa
  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

A refreshing and fizzy Strawberry Dirty Sprite, perfect for summer gatherings or a relaxing evening at home. This delightful drink combines fresh strawberries, zesty lime, and lemon-lime soda, with an optional kick of vodka for adults.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1 cup Sprite or any lemon-lime soda
  • 1/2 cup vodka (optional, for an adult version)
  • 1/4 cup sweet and sour mix
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • Ice cubes
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)
  • Additional strawberries for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash the fresh strawberries under cold water to remove any dirt or debris.
  2. Hull the strawberries by removing the green tops using a small knife or a strawberry huller.
  3. Slice the strawberries into thin pieces to help release their juices and enhance the flavor.
  4. Place the sliced strawberries in a bowl and, if desired, sprinkle a little sugar over them to enhance sweetness. Let them sit for about 10 minutes.
  5. In a large pitcher, combine the sliced strawberries with the sweet and sour mix. Stir gently to coat the strawberries evenly.
  6. If making the adult version, add the vodka to the pitcher.
  7. Pour in the fresh lime juice to add a zesty flavor.
  8. Slowly pour in the Sprite, stirring gently to combine without losing carbonation.
  9. Fill your favorite glasses with ice cubes.
  10. Pour the strawberry mixture over the ice in each glass, ensuring some sliced strawberries are included for presentation.
  11. Garnish each glass with a fresh mint leaf and a whole strawberry on the rim, if desired.
  12. Serve the Strawberry Dirty Sprite immediately while cold and fizzy.
  13. Store any leftovers in the refrigerator for a few hours, but note that carbonation will diminish.
  14. For a slushy version, blend the mixture with ice until smooth.

Notes

  • Substitute strawberries with other fruits like raspberries, blueberries, or peaches if out of season.
  • For a non-alcoholic version, omit the vodka and add more Sprite or club soda.
  • Experiment with flavored vodkas or add coconut rum or pineapple juice for a tropical twist.
  • Muddle fresh mint leaves at the bottom of the glass for an extra refreshing flavor.
