Description
Juicy turkey meatballs coated in a sticky sweet and spicy glaze made with honey, soy sauce, garlic, and ginger. Perfect as an appetizer or main dish.
Ingredients
1 lb ground turkey
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1 egg
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 green onions, chopped
1 tbsp soy sauce
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
Salt and pepper to taste
For the glaze:
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup honey
1 tbsp rice vinegar
1 tsp sesame oil
1 garlic clove, minced
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
1 tsp cornstarch
1 tbsp water
Optional garnish:
Chopped green onions
Sesame seeds
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a bowl, mix ground turkey, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, green onions, soy sauce, ginger, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper.
Form into 1 to 1.5 inch meatballs and place on the baking sheet.
Bake for 18 to 20 minutes until fully cooked.
Meanwhile, in a saucepan combine soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes.
Bring to a simmer and stir in cornstarch mixed with water.
Simmer until thickened, about 2 to 3 minutes.
Add baked meatballs to the glaze and toss to coat.
Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
Notes
Use 93 percent lean turkey for best texture.
Double the glaze for extra sauciness.
Air fryer option: cook at 375°F for 10 to 12 minutes.
Make ahead by storing meatballs and glaze separately.
