Description

This Texas Roadhouse seasoned rice is a delicious and aromatic side dish that enhances any meal. Made with a blend of spices, sautéed onions, and garlic, it’s easy to prepare and adds a flavorful touch to your dining experience. Perfectly fluffy and customizable, it pairs well with a variety of main courses.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 2 cups chicken broth (or water)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (optional, for richness)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the rice under cold water in a fine-mesh strainer until the water runs clear. Set aside to drain.
  2. In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes until translucent.
  3. Add the minced garlic and sauté for an additional 30 seconds, stirring constantly.
  4. Stir in the rinsed rice and toast for 2-3 minutes until slightly golden.
  5. Pour in the chicken broth (or water) and add salt, black pepper, paprika, dried parsley, onion powder, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper (if using). Stir to combine.
  6. Increase heat to high and bring to a boil. Once boiling, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 18-20 minutes without lifting the lid.
  7. After 18-20 minutes, check if the liquid is absorbed and the rice is tender. If not, cover and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  8. Remove from heat, fluff the rice with a fork, and stir in the butter if desired.
  9. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with fresh parsley.
  10. Serve alongside your favorite main dishes.
