Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup long-grain white rice
- 2 cups chicken broth (or water)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
- 1 tablespoon butter (optional, for richness)
Instructions
- Rinse the rice under cold water in a fine-mesh strainer until the water runs clear. Set aside to drain.
- In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes until translucent.
- Add the minced garlic and sauté for an additional 30 seconds, stirring constantly.
- Stir in the rinsed rice and toast for 2-3 minutes until slightly golden.
- Pour in the chicken broth (or water) and add salt, black pepper, paprika, dried parsley, onion powder, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper (if using). Stir to combine.
- Increase heat to high and bring to a boil. Once boiling, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 18-20 minutes without lifting the lid.
- After 18-20 minutes, check if the liquid is absorbed and the rice is tender. If not, cover and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- Remove from heat, fluff the rice with a fork, and stir in the butter if desired.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with fresh parsley.
- Serve alongside your favorite main dishes.
