Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend for best flavor)
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably Italian seasoned)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
  • 1 cup provolone cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup Cheez Whiz or your favorite cheese sauce
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef and ground pork.
  2. Add the breadcrumbs to the meat mixture.
  3. Pour in the milk and stir in the grated Parmesan cheese.
  4. In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the chopped onion and green bell pepper until soft, about 5-7 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  5. Let the sautéed vegetables cool slightly before adding them to the meat mixture.
  6. Add Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, oregano, thyme, and crushed red pepper flakes (if using) to the bowl. Mix until just combined.
  7. Fold in the shredded provolone cheese.
  8. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  9. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease a loaf pan.
  10. Transfer the meat mixture onto the prepared baking sheet or into the loaf pan, shaping it into a loaf about 2 inches high with a slight indentation in the center.
  11. Bake for about 45 minutes.
  12. Remove the meatloaf from the oven and spread Cheez Whiz or cheese sauce over the top.
  13. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
  14. Let the meatloaf rest for about 10 minutes before slicing.
  15. Serve warm, garnished with freshly chopped parsley.

Notes

  • Customize the vegetables by adding mushrooms, jalapeños, or spinach.
  • For a spicier kick, add diced jalapeños or hot sauce to the mixture.
